Its a balmy 50 degrees here in Connecticut today and awfully hard to believe that its December 19th. Emotionally, its been an awful week for Connecticut – for everywhere – so pansies still blooming at this late date seem such positive proof that there is still beauty in the world.
I walk past the greenhouse most days on my way to the compost, but today I popped in to give the rosemary bushes a drink and to check on the gourds drying on the bench. I’m amazed that one of the summer annuals is also still blooming away and a small geranium that had faded when I brought it inside has perked up with the cool air in this little unheated greenhouse.
This 6 x 8′ greenhouse was a Costco purchase and has been standing through several winters so far and is not showing any signs of wear. I think it was a great investment!

Nice entry for this week. Flowers in Dec are uplifting. Do you think butter cookie dough will suffer if I freeze it?

Glad you liked the posies! Yes – I often freeze cookie dough – usually with the idea that I will just bake a few at a time and eat less. Seldom works from that angle, but the dough does fine.
